Understand your chronotype. Pay attention to your natural sleep-wake preferences and try to align your schedule with them. If you are a night owl, do not berate yourself for not being able to fall asleep at 10pm.
Focus on quality. Create conditions that promote deep, uninterrupted sleep: a cool, dark, quiet room; a consistent bedtime routine; limited screen time before bed; and avoidance of alcohol and heavy meals close to bedtime.
