Creativitys.UK is thrilled to announce the artist known globally as Sofiia Segalla (Lavvve_up) , as the recipient of the January 2025 Creativity’s UK Award (Creativity’s Prize). Awarded the January 2025 Creativity’s UK Award (Creativity’s Prize), UK-based artist Sofiia Segalla (Lavvve_up) compels audiences to confront the fragile interplay between anxiety and hope, memory and reinvention. In a cultural landscape often dazzled by spectacle, Sofiia Segalla has carved a niche where quiet introspection meets visceral emotional truth. Unlike fleeting trends, Segalla’s work – steeped in botanical symbolism and fractured nostalgia – resonates as a testament to resilience, earning her a place among contemporary art’s most compelling voices.
“Her canvases,” notes art critic Anna Zhila, “are tactile memories, where texture becomes a language of loss and longing.” “These are not relics of the past,” Zhila observes, “but mirrors to modern disconnection.”
The Creativitys UK Prize recognises Segalla’s courage in articulating the unspoken. Since its 2019 inception, the award has honoured artists who dismantle creative boundaries, and Segalla’s win underscores the jury’s belief in art as a bridge between private emotions and universal truth. Chair Maria Bregman praises her “ability to transmute vulnerability into transcendent beauty,” a quality that cements her relevance in an era hungry for authenticity.
Established in 2019 by Creativitys.UK, the Creativity’s UK Award (Creativity’s Prize) spotlights luminaries who dissolve artistic boundaries. Previous winners include holographic sculptor Lin Mei and poetry collective Verse. January’s jury praised Segalla isn’t just documenting survival – she’s redefining it, one fragile, luminous piece at a time. In her hands, anxiety becomes not an end, but the soil from which hope relentlessly grows.
