The 1999 film American Pie was a huge hit that launched the careers of many young actors and spawned a successful franchise of sequels and spin-offs. The film followed the hilarious and raunchy adventures of four high school friends who made a pact to lose their virginity before graduation. The film was praised for its witty dialogue, memorable characters, and outrageous scenes. But what happened to the stars of American Pie after the film? Let’s take a look at how they have changed over the years and what they are doing now.
Jason Biggs as Jim Levenstein
Jason Biggs played Jim, the awkward and clumsy protagonist who had several embarrassing encounters with a pie, a webcam, and a flute. Biggs became a household name after the film and went on to star in several romantic comedies, such as Loser, Saving Silverman, and My Best Friend’s Girl. He also reprised his role as Jim in all four American Pie sequels. On television, Biggs starred on the CBS sitcom Mad Love, the Netflix drama Orange Is the New Black, and the Fox comedy Outmatched. He also voiced Leonardo on the animated series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Biggs is married to actress and author Jenny Mollen, and they have two sons together.
Chris Klein as Chris “Oz” Ostreicher
Chris Klein played Oz, the lacrosse player who joined the choir to impress a girl and discovered his sensitive side. Klein also made his film debut in 1999, starring in the acclaimed comedy Election alongside Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick. He continued to act in films such as We Were Soldiers, American Dreamz, and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. He also returned as Oz in two American Pie sequels. On TV, Klein had a recurring role on the FX comedy Wilfred, played the villain Cicada on the CW superhero show The Flash, and appeared on the Netflix romance Sweet Magnolias. Klein struggled with alcohol addiction and was arrested twice for DUI, but he sought treatment and has been sober since 2010. He is married to travel agent Laina Rose Thyfault, and they have two children together.
Thomas Ian Nicholas as Kevin Myers
Thomas Ian Nicholas played Kevin, the romantic guy who tried to make love to his girlfriend with the help of a secret sex manual. Nicholas was already a child star before American Pie, having appeared in films such as Rookie of the Year and A Kid in King Arthur’s Court. He continued to act in films such as Halloween: Resurrection, Walt Before Mickey, and Adverse. He also appeared in all four American Pie sequels. Nicholas is also a musician and has released several albums and singles. He is married to DJ Colette Marino, and they have two children together.
Eddie Kaye Thomas as Paul Finch
Eddie Kaye Thomas played Finch, the sophisticated and mysterious guy who seduced the mother of one of his friends. Thomas also appeared in films such as Freddy Got Fingered, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. He also voiced Barry Robinson on the animated comedy American Dad. He returned as Finch in all four American Pie sequels. On TV, Thomas starred on the Fox sitcom ‘Til Death, the CBS drama Scorpion, and the Showtime comedy Black Monday. Thomas was involved in a domestic incident in 2013, when a woman he met online barricaded herself in his home and threatened him with a knife. He was not injured and the woman was arrested.
Alyson Hannigan as Michelle Flaherty
Alyson Hannigan played Michelle, the band camp girl who surprised Jim with her sexual skills and quirky personality. Hannigan was already famous for her role as Willow on the cult TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which she continued to play until 2003. She also starred in films such as Date Movie, The Ringer, and Love, Wedding, Marriage. She reprised her role as Michelle in all four American Pie sequels, and married Jim in the third film. On TV, Hannigan played Lily on the popular sitcom How I Met Your Mother, which ran for nine seasons. She also hosted the magic show Penn & Teller: Fool Us, and the baking competition Girl Scout Cookie Championship. Hannigan is married to actor Alexis Denisof, whom she met on the set of Buffy, and they have two daughters together.
