The year 2024 promises to be a thrilling one for movie lovers, as some of the most anticipated films of the decade will hit the big screen. From epic sci-fi adventures and comic book adaptations to Oscar-worthy dramas and hilarious comedies, there is something for everyone in the upcoming slate of cinematic releases. Here are the 5 films that you should mark on your calendar and get ready to enjoy.

Dune

Based on the seminal novel by Frank Herbert, Dune is a sweeping sci-fi saga that follows the struggle for control of a desert planet that holds the key to the future of humanity. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, who helmed the critically acclaimed Blade Runner 2049, the film boasts an impressive cast of stars, including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa, Rebecca Ferguson, and Javier Bardem. Dune is expected to be a visual spectacle that will immerse the viewers in a rich and complex world of politics, religion, ecology, and warfare. The film is scheduled to be released on March 1, 2024.

Joker

One of the most surprising hits of 2019, Joker was a dark and gritty origin story of the iconic Batman villain, played by Joaquin Phoenix in an Oscar-winning performance. The film explored the psychological and social factors that drove a failed comedian named Arthur Fleck to become a murderous clown. Directed by Todd Phillips, who is best known for his comedy films such as The Hangover, the film was a controversial and provocative commentary on the state of society and the role of the media. The sequel, which is still untitled, will continue the story of the Joker and his rise to power in Gotham City. The film is set to be released on October 4, 2024.

Deadpool 3

The third installment of the irreverent superhero franchise, Deadpool 3 will see the return of Ryan Reynolds as the foul-mouthed mercenary who breaks the fourth wall and makes fun of everything and everyone. The film will also feature some of the most popular characters from the Marvel universe, such as Spider-Man, Wolverine, and the X-Men. The film will be the first Deadpool movie to be produced by Marvel Studios, after Disney acquired the rights to the character from Fox. The film is expected to be a hilarious and action-packed adventure that will poke fun at the superhero genre and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is set to be released on February 14, 2024.

The Batman

A reboot of the DC Comics hero, The Batman will star Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, a billionaire who fights crime as a masked vigilante. Directed by Matt Reeves, who directed the Planet of the Apes trilogy, the film will focus on the early years of Batman’s career and his detective skills. The film will also feature a rogues gallery of villains, such as Catwoman, played by Zoe Kravitz, the Riddler, played by Paul Dano, and the Penguin, played by Colin Farrell. The film is expected to be a dark and gritty take on the character, with a noir-inspired aesthetic and a realistic tone. The film is set to be released on June 25, 2024.

Avatar 2

The long-awaited sequel to the 2009 blockbuster by James Cameron, Avatar 2 will continue the story of the Na’vi people on the planet Pandora. The film will star Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Kate Winslet, who will play a new character, a water-dwelling Na’vi. The film will also introduce new environments and creatures, such as underwater habitats and flying reptiles. The film will use groundbreaking technology and special effects to create a stunning and immersive experience for the viewers. The film is scheduled to be released on December 18, 2024.
