Renowned American musician Bruce Springsteen has made history by becoming the first international songwriter to be honoured as a Fellow of the UK’s Ivors Academy.

Springsteen, known as ‘The Boss’, was recently announced as the recipient of this prestigious award in recognition of the profound impact his career has had on the cultural landscape of the UK. The Ivor Awards have been presented since 1956 to celebrate the craft and achievements of exceptional songwriters and screen composers.

Springsteen joins an illustrious group of songwriting legends as the Academy’s 27th Fellow, including icons such as Paul McCartney, Kate Bush, Annie Lennox and Peter Gabriel.

With a musical career spanning more than five decades, Springsteen has released 21 studio albums, sold more than 140 million records worldwide and won numerous awards, including 20 Grammys and an Academy Award.

The official ceremony for Springsteen will take place at Grovesnor House in London on 23 May, coinciding with the announcement of the 2024 Ivor Novello Award winner.
