Jadid exhibition opens in London

A photographic exhibition that tells the story of Sara Eshonturaeva, an icon of Uzbek dramatic art, and her connection to the Jadid intellectual movement has opened at Asia House Gallery in London.

The exhibition, titled “Connected by Life and Education: Sara Eshonturaeva and the Jadid Movement in Uzbekistan,” includes more than 70 historical photographs, personal letters and documents from Eshonturaeva’s family archive that are being exhibited outside Uzbekistan for the first time. The first in recent years to be devoted to the history of education in Uzbekistan abroad, the exhibition attracted great public interest in London and on the opening day attracted more than 150 guests, including well-known artists, professors, diplomats, public figures and journalists.
